Micro Needling

What is Micro Needling?

The aim of Micro needling is to improve a range of skin Conditions including; depressed acne scarring, Surgical scars, sun damaged skin, uneven skin texture, Pigmentation, wrinkles, “smile” lines, stretch marks and cellulite. Blood vessels and blushing have been noted to improve at the same time.

This revolutionary treatment Increase the production of collagen with minimal damage to the protective layer of the skin.

The outer layers of the skin, known as the horny epithelium, are known to provide 80% of the resistance to penetration of creams. Micro needles penetrate this layer creating tiny channels through which creams may penetrate. These channels will close within 90 minutes restoring the body’s natural defences. Meanwhile the active ingredients from the creams will be acting in and under the skin.

Downtime

Micro needles are non-surgical and non-ablative, which means they are more forgiving and skin Friendly. Those who undergo this treatment experience little or no pain, downtime or risk of complications. The skin has a mild erythema which may be described as a sunburnt look. This is easily covered with a mineral foundation and resolves in 1-3 days.

How many treatments?

It is recommended that you have treatments from once a week to once a month for a series of six treatments, however deeper problems such as acne scars, melasma etc may need more treatments. Improvement still occurs although it’s more gradual.

Where can it be used?

Micro Needling can be used any where over the body for most skin conditions and on any colour of the skin.

Precautions

Each roller is only used on ONE person.

Micro needling should not be performed on irritated skin, infected skin, fungal skin infections or sever active acne. Aspirin, nurofen, Vitamin E and blood thinning drugs all cause increased bruising and should not be taken in the two weeks leading up to the treatment.
